Australian actor Cornelia Frances has passed away at the age of 77 following a battle with cancer. The Home and Away star was reportedly surrounded by close friends and family when she passed overnight according to the Daily Telegraph.

Frances was a veteran of Australian acting, she hosted the game show The Weakest Link, and starred in many shows including Sons and Daughters, Prisoner, Young Doctors and Kingswood Country.

The actor spoke to The Sunday Telegraph in January where she explained she found out in 2017 she was diagnosed with bladder cancer that had spread to her hip.

“I swear I have had a hex placed on me for the past 12 months.”

“I discovered I had bladder cancer. This then spread to my hip bone which fractured, and then I almost died from loss of blood due to an ulcer in my throat. Despite all this, I am still here, as the old song goes.”

Our thoughts are with Cornelia’s friends and family during this difficult time.
