Former Married At First Sight star Lauren Huntriss has taken to Instagram to share a PSA regarding skin cancer.
The contestant, 31, shared photos showing the aftermath of surgery on her nose to remove a skin cancer, with a warning to be vigilant:
“Let’s talk skin cancer,” she began.
“I first noticed what looked like just another pimple on my poor face so I kept picking and picking but it just wouldn’t go away.”
She went on to explain that a Dermatologist later biopsied the mark and booked her in for surgery “before it became malignant.”
“I opted for #MOHS surgery (an advanced surgical technique whereby the doctor removes the cancer bit by bit and viewed under a microscope while the patient waits)over a skin graft as skin grafts tend to be very noticeable.”

“Kids, adults – if you notice even the slightest change to your skin book in with a dermatologist ASAP! Don’t risk it, don’t wait or it may be too late,” she added.
The Skin Cancer Foundation defines skin cancer or basal cell carcinoma as “abnormal, uncontrolled growths or lesions that arise in the skin’s basal cells, which line the deepest layer of the epidermis (the outermost layer of the skin).”
They list symptoms and warning signs as:
pen sores (persistent, non-healing).
Irritated red patches.
Shiny bump or nodule.
Pink growth and/or scar-like area.
