It was announced in December that Packed to the Rafters is officially coming back to television in 2020.
But not everyone will be back on our small screens.
Even though we were told that the show – produced by Seven Studios – will include original cast members Jessica Marais (Rachel), Rebecca Gibney (Julie), Erik Thomson (Dave), Hugh Sheridan (Ben), Angus McLaren (Nathan), Michael Caton (Ted Taylor) and George Houvardas (Nick Karandonis).
It has been revealed that Jessica abruptly quit the show and that she will be replaced by actress Georgina Haig.
An official statement from Jessica’s management revealed that she left due to “personal reasons”:
“She thanks everyone involved on the show for their ongoing support and love, especially her Rafter’s family, and sends them her very best wishes for the production.”
Georgina was featured in the first promotional photo for the sitcom released this week. She was joined by actors Hugh Sheridan and Angus McLaren, who play brothers Ben and Nathan Rafter.

She’s been acting for a while having appeared in several US TV shows such as Fringe, Limitless and a live-action version of Frozen’s Queen Elsa in Once Upon A Time.
Packed to the Rafters is returning via Amazon Prime Video, the reboot will pick up six years after the original series ended and will be available for viewing in 200 countries – including Australia of course.
