The Markle family has made headlines once again after the Duchess of Sussex’s half-sister, Samantha, slammed Meghan for the content of her speech in Fiji.

If you missed Meghan’s speech, she spoke passionately about the value of education and the sacrifices she personally made to attend university.

During a visit to the University of the South Pacific’s Suva campus, the Duchess said:

“I am also fully aware of the challenges of being able to afford this level of schooling for many people around the world – myself included.

“It was through scholarships, financial aid programmes and work-study where my earnings from a job on campus went directly towards my tuition – that I was able to attend university. And, without question, it was worth every effort.”

"Everyone should be afforded the opportunity to receive the education they want, but more importantly the education they have the right to receive. And for women and girls in developing countries, this is vital.” — swipe to watch The Duchess of Sussex’s first speech, announcing the award of two new grants to Fiji National University and @UniSouthPacific. These grants will allow them to run workshops which empower their female staff, ensure that women are provided with the training and skills to operate effectively in their roles, and those with leadership potential are given the opportunity to be heard and recognised at the most senior level. #RoyalVisitFiji #Fiji #Suva

As the Daily Mail has shared, Samantha Markle was quick to criticise Meghan’s words, claiming that their father paid for the royal’s tuition.

Taking to Twitter, Samantha wrote:

“Dad paid her college tuition! She forgot the most important part of her speech and there are receipts to prove it.

“I love my sister but this is ridiculous. You can’t lie like this, Meg! Delusionally absurd.”

This comes just a little over a week after Samantha gave a statement about Meghan and Harry’s baby announcementThe Sun reported that she said:

“I would hope that — for the sake of the baby, the family, the world and my dad — that leaving him out of the statement was not intentional.

“I hope my dad is included and at a proper time. If he is excluded, I won’t be happy. It is in the best interests of the baby for my dad to be included.

“A baby changes everything and softens everyone. I would only hope that there would be some adjustment or some way of including him.”
