You may have wondered this while in a recent play session with your pet but it turns out there is a good reason dogs sneeze while playing (outside of cuteness).
According to dog experts at Rover.com, sneezing during play is no happenstance. Rather, dogs intentionally sneeze to communicate one key thing: play.
Yup! According to the pros, in this context it’s “a reminder to the playmate that the scrimmage is just play, not a true fight.” It is therefore also a sign the dog is having fun – kind of like how we’d laugh.

Now, if your pooch is sneezing outside of play or just a heck of a lot, there can be other reasons. Generally it’s all hunky-dory but if accompanied by other behavioural changes it could be something to check out with your vet.
