Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez were once the epitome of BFF goals, but unfortunately, they’re no longer friends.
Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar, the I Love Me singer revealed that she’s no longer in contact with her former Disney co-star.
Despite not being photographed together for a few years, Selena shared a heartwarming Instagram story supporting Lovato’s Grammy performance earlier this year.
“When you grow up with somebody, you’re always going to have love for them. But I’m not friends with her, so it felt…” Demi said before stopping herself. “I will always have love for her, and I wish everybody nothing but the best.”
The pair first appeared on Barney & Friends together and later became Disney Channel stars around the same time.
Throughout their up and down friendship, they walked red carpets side by side, co-starred in the 2009 film Princess Protection Program and both dated different Jonas Brothers.
Rumours of a feud between the pair began in 2010 when a fan asked Demi how Selena was doing. Demi replied “Ask Taylor!”, referring to Taylor Swift who had a blossoming friendship with Selena at the time while Demi was growing closer with Miley.
While Demi shared that she no longer talks to the Jonas Brothers, she says she’s still in contact with Miley.
“She’s awesome, and I love her to death and always will, always have,” she said. “But I think she’s kind of the only one from that era that I still stay in touch with.”
The two recently reconnected on Miley’s IGTV show, Bright Minded, where they were praised by fans for being “queens of self-love”.
In honour of these former Disney friends, let’s re-watch the iconic Send It On music video, featuring Demi, Selena, Miley and all three JoBros.
Oh, how life was so simple back then.
