Fans of tense thrillers that will have you hiding behind your hands and holding your breath, listen up because we have some good news for you: it’s been confirmed that silent horror film, A Quiet Place, will be getting a sequel.
Chairman and CEO of Paramount, Jim Gianopulos, revealed at CinemaCon this week that part two of the box-office hit is officially going ahead.
The team behind the film has offered no specifics about release dates, potential cast members or anything about possible storylines but shared that they certainly have ideas in the works.
Screenwriters Bryan Woods and Scott Beck spoke with Fandango about the next instalment and they remained coy about their ideas:
“There are so many things you could do,” Woods told the publication.
Beck continued:
“Definitely…There are so many discarded set pieces, too, just hiding out on Word documents on our computer.
“So, yeah, there are certainly so many stories you could tell. It’s just really, at the end of the day, who are the characters in this and what does this situation mean to that dynamic?”
The surprise hit, which was co-written and directed by John Krasinski, follows the story of a young family (the Abbotts) living in near-complete silence after the invasion of a breed of creature that hunts prey purely by listening out for sound.
The film has been rated an impressive 95 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes and has raked in US $215 million worldwide so far.
While we don’t know if the sequel to A Quiet Place will continue to follow the Abbott family, we certainly hope it features Emily Blunt again; that woman was incredible in this film.
