This is the third reality TV break-up we’ve copped this week – first Keira and Jarrod, then Megan and Jake

…we’re actually surprised Troy and Carly lasted this long. MAFS ended months ago! Looks like the photo ops made their relationship worth it for nine whole months.

Both parties confirmed the news on their respective Instagram accounts on Wednesday.

Troy spoke fondly of their relationship in his post:

“I am so so sorry it hasn’t worked out… This is a very painful situation… We’ve had an incredible 9 months together and it hurts to walk away from.

“I knew way back when we met at the first dinner party that Carly was a special girl. She captured my heart in so many ways… She was my rock during the experiment and has been ever since… I’ll treasure the memories forever… Carly, I wish you all the happiness in the world.”

Dear fans, it is with great sadness I want to let you know that Carly and I have decided to go our separate ways… I am so so sorry it hasn’t worked out… This is a very painful situation… We’ve had an incredible 9 months together and it hurts to walk away from … I knew way back when we met at the first dinner party that Carly was a special girl. She captured my heart in so many ways… She was my rock during the experiment and has been ever since… I’ll treasure the memories forever… Carly, I wish you all the happiness in the world. Xx

Carly was even more saccharine when referring to her ex:

“Nine months ago, we threw ourselves head first into a relationship, that despite all odds, felt like it was destined to be. We fell in love and experienced some of the most real and amazing moments together that I will never forget.

“We wanted this more than anything and have fought for each other to the end so it’s heartbreaking that we’ve had to make the incredibly difficult decision that our lives no longer align and we are unable to make this work.

“Troy, my darling, you are something special. You’re my best friend and I will always be here for you. It’s the end of this chapter but it’s not goodbye.”

Troy and Carly met on the last series of Married At First Sight, however they were first set up with different partners. The two got in touch when their original “marriages” didn’t work out, and put on a theatrically romantic, PDA-laden display for the nine months they were together. Well, maybe not recently…

Daily Mail quoted a source claiming the pair broke up months ago:

“He officially moves back to Sydney in two weeks. They sleep in separate rooms and have for three months.

“He hasn’t even tried to get work [in Melbourne]. He hasn’t sent out a single application. He wanted a job in media and is convinced it will happen. Carly is fed up with it. He just lays about all day.”

Ouch.
