He’s been in trouble for throwing eggs and arrested for reckless driving, but now Justin Bieber has caused a European landmark to shut down.
Fjaðrárgljúfur, a canyon in Iceland, has been closed off to the public by the country’s environmental ministry because packs of Bieber fans would visit the site.
The canyon was featured in Bieber’s music video for I’ll Show You, and has contributed to Iceland’s growing popularity with international visitors.
2.3 million tourists visited the Nordic island country in 2018, compared to 600,000 in 2010.
Environmental minister Guðmundur Ingi Guðbrandsson hasn’t put all the blame on Justin Bieber, but urges celebrities to think about the impact their actions can have.
“Rash behaviour by one famous person can dramatically impact an entire area if the mass follows,” he said.
The music video currently has over 444 million views and features the singer walking along dangerously narrow paths, dangling his feet over a cliff and bathing in the freezing river.
