Billie Eilish absolutely collected at the Grammys this year and we’re not the least  bit shocked.

You know what we are (semi)shocked about though? That Billie – the genius that she is – sampled the sound of a Sydney pedestrian crossing to use in her hit ‘Bad Guy’.

Yep, she literally recorded the sound of the crossing cue to add to the song. Finally, Australia getting the recognition we deserve.

Speaking with Rolling Stone back in December 2019, Billie talked about the moment inspiration struck when she was out and about in Sydney.

“Mum and I went for a walk in Sydney. We were, like, across the street from the hotel, and the crosswalk is this little…. like, you press it, and it’s like ‘doop’ ‘doop’, and I was like, ‘that’s hard’.”

Then the pedestrian crossing went green and made a totally different sound, which totally floored Billie. She recorded it, named the file “grart”, and Finneas eventually distorted it for the “Bad Guy” drop.

A true artiste.
