Being an adult is basically just faking it and calling your mum/Googling ‘how do I do xxx’ every damn day. No one is just born knowing how to boil pasta or how long to cook a cake for, or how the hell to get Saturday night’s wine stain out of their favourite white top.
Well, just call us ‘mum’ and give us a hug ‘cause we have the answer to one important adult question: how to fix a stuck zipper.
You’re running late, try to zip up your cute dress and stuck zipper. You’re closing your backpack on your way out the door to work and – oh would you look at that, stuck zipper. You really don’t have any time to waste and somehow there’s another. Damn. Stuck. Zipper.
Point is, stuck zippers stuck and forcing them up or down won’t fix them. The good news is that there is a pretty simple way to fix a stuck zipper, using things that you already have lying around the house.
You will need: tweezers, a cotton swab, and a pencil/bar soap/lip balm/olive oil. Like other things in life, the key here is lubricant ( 😉 ).
And yes, your choice of lube matters. Apartment Therapy offers this important advice when trying to fix a broken zipper:
“Consider the fabric your item is made from when choosing a lubricant (you definitely don’t want to stain it) and apply all along the zipper teeth in the same fashion you applied the graphite pencil. Give the slider a tug and you should be good to go.”
So how the hell do you use tweezers, a cotton swab and lube to fix a stuck zipper? We thought you’d never ask. Check out the video below:
